My Unpopular Philosophical Opinions

Happy New Year!

It is 2024, which is crazy to even think about. Although I believe that spiritually, naturally, and even physically, the actual new year begins in the springtime (because time is both an illusion and inevitable) but for the sake of our current reality, I will go along with this whole winter new year. I know everyone is getting ready to gear up those new year’s resolutions, and I hope in 2024, you achieve all your hopes and desires. I honestly don’t buy into resolutions for the new year (I know, surprise.) but something I want to do this year is be even more unapologetic than last year. I feel like, especially in my writing, I've been pulling punches. I know there are people who regularly frequent my blog who hold certain ideologies and I feel like I’ve been sort of catering to that because I don’t want to lose readers. And I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting closer to thirty but I just don’t care about who I lose anymore. This is MY BLOG. I pay the fees, I own the domain, I no longer write for other people professionally, specifically so I can say what the hell I want. If going forward, what I say no longer resonates with you on any level, feel free to read media that does. With that being said…I’ve got some opinions coming into 2024 and they’re not popular. So with all of that out the way…here we go!

  • There is no such thing as POC solidarity.

Yep. I said it. I know there is this notion that as people of color (whatever the hell that means because according to y’all these white latinas from germany are part of it but I digress) we are all in this together and fighting the good fight against white supremacy. And sure, I do think that on an individual level there can be solidarity. I have many non-black POC friends who I feel personal solidarity with. But on a mass scale no, it doesn’t exist. Every single ethnic group is extremely anti-black. I’ve seen it first hand. My first experience with racism was not from white folk but from an asian family, who’s daughter I was friends with in elementary school, who did not want me in their house because I was black. Don’t get me started on the colorism amongst many ethnic communities, which we can argue are the old wounds of white supremacy but I’m a big believer of knowing better and doing better. And it’s not just that all ethnic communities are largely anti-black, black folks are also anti-other ethnicities. I will say though, the younger generation seems to be more tolerant, accepting, and receptive of those outside their community. And I hope in the coming generations we can reach that ubiquitous understanding amongst each other as people of color. But…I'm not naively optimistic.

  • Straight women are the weak links.

I really truly hope in 2024 and beyond straight women learn to STAND UP. Y’all are really out here lapping your straight male counterparts of all ethnicities in education, entrepreneurship, and other important interpersonal markers. Yet y’all are also out here crying, whining, and fighting for men who don’t even have a High School diploma. This may sound harsh but if you are a woman dealing with a man. He should be benefiting you. Y’all are out here in all your glory paying and going half on dates, sleeping with them and most of y’all aren’t even having an orgasm, risking STDs, emotional attachment, and higher medical bills FOR FREE. Letting men with no place to stay talk their way into a relationship with you just so they have somewhere to rest. Buying dusty men PS5s or whatever the hell console is out and overall doing the most for these men just for your stocking to be empty at christmas. And I wish I were being dramatic but I have seen women personally experience all of these things.  The feminine is the most potent and powerful life force energy in our conceivable universe and y’all are out here selling yourselves short! And I’m not even talking about money (although I do believe women should also be benefiting monetarily in some way) you can’t even get these men to claim you in public, much less put a ring on it. But hey, I’m not here to tell you how to live your life. If you like doing all the above, I love it for you.  This year however, I will have a zero tolerance policy for amazing women crying over basic men.

  •  Cancel Culture.

It doesn't work. I’m sorry but how many times have y’all tried to cancel Dave Chapelle? Exactly. Now I’m not saying it never works because Kanye West finally lost something (although I notice nobody cared when he kept bringing up black women), but even then Kanye West, Chapelle, Donald Trump, all these companies y’all be trying to boycott (i’m talking to liberals and conservatives) are still active. Not only are they active, they don’t GAF about what anybody thinks because all y’all are going to do anyway is rant and argue on social media. The average person doesn’t have enough social, or monetary capital to create any real change to someone being canceled. And yes, if it were truly a group effort, a serious effort, not just keyboard warrioring, y’all might get somewhere. But on both sides of the political spectrum there is too much ideological henpecking. The only people allowed to be worth a damn apparently are those who are the most pure in principle on either side. This is why (at least the two factions that I participated in) BLM didn’t really affect much change for the communities they claimed to serve. I’m convinced many of y’all don’t actually care about “canceling” anyone. I think you just want to be heard, validated, and praised for being a part of something.

Plato allegedly once said “Opinion is the medium between knowledge and ignorance.” And I will let you all decide which of these unpopular opinions are which. I will say that with everything written here and with anything anyone says, take it with a grain of salt. Opinions are just that. They are the quantifiable outcomes of someone's reality. And you as an individual with a different brain, personality, and life experience may not see reality as I do and that’s okay. You’re allowed to have your own thoughts. Anyway, this was more of a ranty article to cleanse my palate in the new year. And remember, if you want to argue with me over anything I said in this article, try arguing with the devil first. Be blessed!
